Front End Noise

My 2006 (standard model) convertible makes a loud grinding front end noise (only on) the first turn after starting my car. I have only owned the car since the weather turned relatively cold and am not sure if it will do it after it warms up. Car has less than 7,000 miles on it. Thoughts?

We'd hazard a guess that the sound you hear is coming from the brake discs. Overnight, especially in humid areas, disc surfaces can become oxidized and the pads can easily make noise during the time they grind off the surface rust. If the sound goes away within a few seconds that's almost certainly the cause. If not, potential problem areas could be wheel hub bearings or power steering rack faults, in which case a trip to the dealership would be in order. With so few miles on the car, however, we doubt that your problem is serious. Posted by Administrator on 12/4/2009 1:11:14 PM
