i have owned 2 86 vettes and both have done this. i have found that the sensors are mounted extremely high in the radiator and so under certain driving conditions the level will momentarily drop just enough to trigger the light. i cured this by adding coolant to the overflow bottle little by little until the light finally stopped coming on. has not come on in 4 years now!
