84 hood latch problem

I can not get the right side to release. How do I get to it or is there a tool that can reach in there? Seems imposible. RM

There is a C4 release at http://www.mamotorworks.com/corvette.html?frame=3.948&searched=hood release tool After you get it open I suggest installing http://www.mamotorworks.com/corvette?frame=3.8064 Anonymous on 11/4/2010 9:17:05 AM
My 84 had the same problem about 15 years ago while having someone pulling on the handle I was able to pull up on the RH corner and get it to pop loose then you can clean and adjust the release assembly....JAY Anonymous on 11/4/2010 9:14:17 AM

Ray, Hood release tool is available from www.ecklers.com. Just search "hood release tool". They are 19.99 each. You open the passengers door and slide the tool into the hood latch and pull out. Pretty easy to do. I've had to do it a few times. You might be able to fabricate something out of hard rod with a bend in the end. I have one of the tools. I can email you pictures and dimensions of it, if you want to see what it looks like or don't want to wait to get one from Ecklers. Jim J. Gordon Killebrew also devised a tool for opening the C4 hood. I had one, but I think I gave it away when I sold my C4. It takes a little practice. You may want to go to this website ... gordonkillebrew.com ... for instructions on how to use the tool. Good luck! Joseph Razumich on 10/7/2010 3:04:03 PM
I believe Dave McClellan devised a tool for just such an occurrence. The previous post is correct. Most of the well know Corvette parts supply houses offer this tool. Keep it in your car!! Gary Moscowitz on 10/7/2010 12:27:56 PM
Ray, Ecklers, Corvette Central and others do sell a toll for releasing the hood on C4"s. I had one and gave it to a buddy after I upgraded to a C5. The is not expensive, hope that helps. Bob C. bobctm3 on 10/7/2010 11:03:27 AM
