next time it dies put a timming light on a plug wire and turn it over. if the timming light flashes its not in the ingination system. I would look at the fuel system. hope this helps. Dave David McGrath on 1/28/2008 8:07:06 AM
On 88 and 89 vettes the eng may have intermettent no start, long crank times, may start and stall after start, or may have eng surge or rough running. no codes will be set, and no trouble can be found using normal diagnostic procedures. posable cause: The relays (2) used for production, p/n 14103304, may not conduct enough current to allow the mass air flow (mas) circuits to operate properly. the relays will test ok. Correction Both the maf relays (burn-off and burn-of control) should be replaced with relay p/n 14089936. This relay is serviced with a bracket, which is used only for 1988, and can be discarded for the 1989 model year. the location of the relays are next to the cruise control servo. I had a similar problem with my 90 with only 31K on it. I brought my car into a Chevrolet dealership here in NC & after a week of them troubleshooting the problem to the tune of $2,500. (I was not a happy camper) they found that 6 of my injectors were bad. Once they were replaced, my car runs fine. I'm not sure this is your problem, but you might ask your technician to check the injectors. Laura on 11/7/2007 4:05:50 PM
