76 windshield leak

A prior owner tried to stop a windshield leak with actual tar. I need to pull it, clean it, and reinstall it correctly. How does the darned thing come out?

Go get a wire (cable), designed to saw through the sealant or tar. NAPA sells a roll for a few bucks. Take something sharp, poke a hole through (I started in a corner), feed the cable, wrap one end around a piece of wood dowel, twist some slack around another dowel, Have a friend hold one end, you the other and saw away. Keep pulling as you work your way around the windshield. Stay close to the windshield. Don't forget to remove the trim inside and out. Patience is a must. I got mine out in about 2 hours. Good Luck!
