I need new tires for my 1975 C3 Corvette. I was going to just replace them with P225/70R15's that I currently have, but am thinking about going to P255/60R15's on the rear and P245/60R15's on the front. Section width on the 255 is about one inch wider than the current 225's and it looks like they will clear the parking brake cables on the rear. P245's are needed in the front to clear the wheel lips that were shaved on later models to accommodate the 255's. Do I have this right or are there other issues with using 255's on the rear and 245's in the front? Any comments?

The handling will be affected, and directional stability will be affected, primarily due to factory alignment specs. Stay with the stock tire size, and go -5'' on the toe. Make sure they check the rear alignment as well. On my 75, I took the car back to shop 3 times to get just the right feel. Thank goodness I sent the guy a lot of business, he only charged me for 2 alignments. Make sure you get a printout of the before and after specs.....

I have been runnig those sizes in BFG radial T/A on my '69 for 15 years. The 255's were to big for the front. No problem in the back.
